Swimming with Emotional Support Dogs

Stanton Lakes
Open to the public

TASC The Ambulance Staff Charity is doing something a little different this year..... as part of our Volunteers Week celebrations, one of the ways that we will be saying Thank You, is to offer our volunteers an opportunity to experience swimming with emotional support dogs! We will be having a fun day at Stanton Lakes where Pete Lewin, a serving paramedic, will be working with his Newfoundlands, giving demonstrations around water safety and real-life rescue situations. TASC volunteers will also be able to experience the therapeutic benefits of swimming with these beautiful animals. Pete and his team of furry friends recently appeared on ITV's Top 100 Dogs with Ben Fogle! Most of our volunteers work within the ambulance services across the UK and many experience traumatic events during the course of their everyday jobs which can have a detrimental effect on their own health and well-being. TASC supports all ambulance staff in many ways, including physical and psychological issues (trauma and PTSD), financial grants, bereavement support and welfare advice. Having the opportunity for them to take a day away from their incredibly challenging day job is TASC's way of showing their appreciation for what ambulance staff do. Spectators are welcome on the day (by prior arrangement please). As well as enjoying watching the day's events, they will have the opportunity to chat to Pete and his team and meet the dogs. They'll also be able to find out how to get involved and support our ambulance community by volunteering with The Ambulance Staff Charity.
