Volunteers’ Week 2027

Monday 7 June to Sunday 13 June

We wanted to share an update on the timing of Volunteers’ Week 2027 and explain the thinking behind this decision.

Several years ago, following feedback from the sector, we agreed that Volunteers’ Week would begin on the first Monday of June rather than on 1 June itself. This was to ensure the campaign started on a working day, making it easier for volunteer-involving organisations, volunteers and partners to engage from the outset.

In 2027, the first Monday of June falls on 7 June. While we recognise this is later than some might expect, it remains fully aligned with the approach we collectively agreed and have followed in recent years.

Why are we keeping to the agreed approach?

Over the last few months, we’ve carefully considered a range of options. However, changing the dates for 2027 would create inconsistency and could make future planning more difficult for organisations across the sector.

There are also practical considerations. Bringing the campaign forward would start it on the last day of May placing it during the school half term break in England and Wales, a time when many people are away or unable to participate in their usual work or volunteering commitments.

More importantly, 2027 is not an isolated case. Over the next several years there are several occasions when 1 June falls later in the week, meaning the first Monday falls on the 5th, 6th or 7th of June. Maintaining the agreed principle provides clarity, consistency and predictability for everyone involved in the campaign.

For these reasons, the Volunteers’ Week team has agreed that Volunteers’ Week 2027 will run from Monday 7 June 2027 to Sunday 13th June 2027.

Looking ahead

We know that many organisations plan their activity well in advance, and we hope confirming the dates now provides the certainty needed to begin preparations.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Volunteers’ Week. We look forward to working together to recognise, celebrate and inspire volunteering across the UK in 2027.

Further information and campaign resources will be shared in due course.
